Let's make a difference

Why is it that we hate our politicians so much? Why do we hate to start a conversation even with the slightest relation to politics or politicians?Always so pessimistic towards issues related to our country?

I wonder why our attitude is such. Why aren't we proud to be Indians?Or are we and just don't want to show it?

I just don't get it ,if we have such a problem with our politicians and the way the government functions, than why don't we do something instead of sitting and criticising them.Join the Civil services, politics. There are so many ways by which WE can make a difference.Even by a simple thing such as exercising our RIGHT to vote.

I don't want to go on and on because I'm pretty sure most of you are already bored of reading this but I just want to say:

GIVE A THOUGHT TO SUCH THINGS.A THOUGHT TO HOW WE CAN CHANGE THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF INDIANS LIVING IN ABSOLUTE POVERTY .

HOW WE CAN BE AGENTS OF CHANGE AND TAKE INDIA A STEP FURTHER TOWARDS A COMMON VISION,A COMMON GOAL.WE ARE THE FUTURE,AND WE HAVE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

One thing which we must remember: Whatever we do,it mustn't be merely for ourselves but also for the country.

To TRUE to be TRUE....

What is LoVe???

Is it just liking someone,a person's wants- "Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired"-Mark Twain, something without which life is incomplete. There are many ways of looking at it.The nightingale's story is a perfect example of true love.Isn't true love when u give whatever you have(even if it is your life) without expecting the other person to reciprocate. But it's better to let her be where she is,in a story and not in this unreal world. In today's fast paced selfish world there is no place for true, pure love. But at times I wonder is love the purpose of life,is it the greatest thing one must experience in life or are there even greater things and dreams to be fulfilled.Love doesn't mean just loving a person, one can love their country, their pet(i may sound weird) there are so many forms of love, which we humans NEVER bother to spare a thought to(reminds me of Bhagat Singh who said"my bride is freedom").It's sad to see how humans use love as an instrument to manipulate people to fulfill their selfish desires.

Q1.Is the nightingale naive?

NO.
I think the nightingale portrays a TRUE lover. One who gives without wanting anything in return. She believed in true love and therefore sacrificed her precious life. But she couldn't judge the student properly. If he needed a rose so badly, he could have made an effort to go look for one instead of crying(he's a lover who lost half way through the battle because he was not determined enough)whereas the nightingale fulfilled her duty of being a true lover.I would call her naive if she would be actually living in this unreal world.

Q2.Does the nightingale appeal to you?

YES,she does.
I would like to be like her in a way.Her love is PURE and it's hard to find this kind of unadulterated love. She gave away her life for what she believed in(in this case her love towards the STUPID student).

Q3.Who do you resemble the most and why?

I thought alot about this question and i came to the conclusion that I kind of resemble the nightingale in Oscar Wilde's story the most(reason to this is at the end).

Definitely not the frog because he was too shrewd, selfish, extremely mean, bad at heart.

Not the gullible nightingale because she got easily fooled by the frog. But at the same time she was ambitious too otherwise why would she accept the frog as her master(she wanted to be even better).

Not the stupid student whose world begins and ends at metaphysics.Neither am i like the materialistic daughter whose world revolves around jewels and money. Both of them are similar in a way, they don't look at the big picture , what life's about instead they are so entangled in their daily life(like most of us).

Finally, my explanation to why I think I kind of resemble the nightingale :

I think she did what she believed in and after all she did something great.Even I want to do something great like that maybe sacrifice my life for my country but I'll NEVER sacrifice my life for a person I love because I know I wont love anybody that much, and anyway humans don't deserve that kind of love. And even if I do love somebody that much (IF I do),I wouldn't show it because somewhere down the line even i am a selfish human and would expect to be given that kind of love in return. To survive in this world you have to change yourself even if your soft from inside.

"SNAKE"-by D.H.Lawrence

"The snake"-by D.H.Lawrence is a perfect example of how are inner feeling of how to act or behave comes in direct conflict with the society's expectations. The poet who is intrigued and fascinated by the the intrusive reptile feels honoured to play host to one of the most beautiful creature.

The 2nd line itself"On a hot,hot day,and I in pyjamas for the heat,"begins to set in the drama. There is a feeling of respect commanded by the snake which distinguishes it from other animals.Though the poet is fully aware that the snake is poisnous, he did not wish to kill it.He even re-emphasises the fact that the snake was first in line ,again telling us that the snake commanded respect and dignity.
But then there was a clash between voice of education and voice of conscience.Maybe also a clash between the heart ant the mind.

  • Education:this is what tells him to kill the snake as it can be a threat to his life.
  • Conscience:this is what differentiates him from the rest and tells him snakes are to be admired.

The poet has an instintive liking towards the snake,as if they had a special bond or connection since ages which could not be broken. He was getting some kind of pleasure by quietly looking at the snake while it was drinking water.

Finally when the snake was leaving, for a moment education won over conscience. As the poet picked up a log and aimlessly threw it at the snake. But he immediately regretted his action, which can be known from the line"And so,I missed my chance with one of the lords of life."

Moral of the poem:Don't always blindly follow society's preconcieved notions and beliefs instead listen to your inner voice.

Since ages the snake has fascinated humans and will forever continue to.The snake has been an integral component of Hindu mythology, ancient Egypt,Buddhist jakarta stories and other civilisations. Along with being a symbol of evil it signifies inner wisdom,or knowledge of life's secret processes .

IN ANCIENT EGYPT:
The Uraeus is a stylised upright cobra (or snake), used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, deity and divine authority in ancient Egypt. The snake was a form of underworld spirit, which had a domestic and a friendly significance. In the Egyptian mythology the snake was a personification of the goddess Kebechet, symbolized the purification by water in the funeral cult, so the snake became a protector of the pharaohs in their death.

THE SNAKE AROUND LORD SHIVA'S NECK:
A snake (Vasuki): Is shown curled three times around the neck of the Lord and is looking towards His right side. The three coils of the snake symbolize the past, present and future - time in cycles. The Lord wearing the curled snake like an ornament signifies that creation proceeds in cycles and is time dependent.

An UnUsUaL ExPeRiEnCe

It was the second last day of the Wills Lifestyle fashion week and my parents were planning to go for Manish Arora's show(hope u know who he is). They asked me whether I was interested ,and I instantly said yes to their offer.

As we reached the hotel we were stuck in a long line of cars which refused to budge. Finally, after a long wait we reached the lobby and proceeded towards the halls. As we were getting closer I could spot a few known faces and side by side was feeling totally out of place. The ramp which looks so wide on t.v. was so narrow ,extremely low and insignificant , I even wondered whether two models could walk at a time.Anyway,I quickly went at sat right behind my parents, eagerly waiting for the show to begin.

The theme and designs were inspired from outer space and the garments were part of the fall winter collection. His show was a riot of colours ,the hairstyles, painted faces, designs all added to the entire drama.Though many of his clothers are not wearable on a daily basis he uses his clothes like a canvas to express his creativity.

Watching a live fashion show was totally different, i actually got to know how much hard work is put in by the designers and models. The rows and rows of photographers, the match stick thin models walking the ramp, the laser lights, the loud music ,the entire atmosphere and the element of surprise was an all new experience.
